I'm afraid I can't help much on Bedfordshire or Kent roots as my researches haven't extended that far. My Cherrys came from Bedfordshire's neighbouring county of Bucks, my earliest known ancestor being Thomas Cherry, who married Elizabeth Foster at Preston Bissett in 1785. I suspect he was born over in Ambrosden in neighbouring Oxfordshire in the 1750s, but haven't been able to find sufficent proof yet. However, if you come across any stray Thomas Cherrys born at about that time in Beds then I'd be very interested.
