A funeral for Mary Ellen Rowe, 51, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mill Baptist Church in Aulander, N.C. with the Reverend Ronald Dolberry presiding. Ms. Rowe dies Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at her home in Ahoski, N.C. after a brief illness. A native of Hertford County, N.C. she lived in California and in Ahoski, N.C. She worked as a bartender. Ms. Rowe was a member of Mill Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Chris Rowe of Ogden, Utah, daughter, Melissa Cherry of Suisun City, California; parents Bryant and Fannie Cherry of Ahoski, sisters, Linda Holmes of Irvington, N.J., Shirley Casterlow of Woodland, N.C., Dora Mae Smith of Ahoski and Patricia Ann Naines of Monticello, Alaska; brothers, Bryant Cherry, Jr. of Ahoski and James Cherry of Lewiston, N.C. and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Mill Branch Baptist Church Building Fund, Pleasant Grove, Aulander, N.C. 27805.
