    2. Mark Hanks
    3. Hi Lynn, YES, YES, YES your information is of great interest Cousin. Henry & Caroline (Sherwood)Cherry had three children born in Ickford. George Arthur*, James, & Charles. Then two children Alice & Clara in Oxspring, Penistone, Yorks. George Arthur Cherry, married Lucy Agnes Mitchell. Their children are Arthur Mitchell, Archibald, Victor, George, Ida, Lawrence, Fred, Percy*, & Reginald. Percy Cherry, married Alice Maude Thorpe. Their children are Roy Claude*, Rex Aubury, Barry, Clifford, & Brenda Roy Claude married my mother Margaret Ann Allen. They had me then Divorced. You have information that goes back further than I have and also you have helped clear up a small! hicup with Henry & Caroline's wedding cert. I have been wondering for some time if I had the correct one as it showed Henry's father as being Henry and not James as thought. As well as his date of birth being diferent. Do you have any information on an Eliza Cherry. She was a witness at Henry and Caroline's wedding. I wonder if the James I thought was Henry's father, and Henry could be brothers. As I have James's birth date as 1810. I have other information on Henry's decendants that I am willing to share. Also feel free to visit our web site (under construction and revision) and sign the guest book. Have you any sources, certificates, photo's etc. We would be willing to pay for copies and the mailing costs. 1. Re: [CHERRY-L] Cherry Family. London.
    2. Lynn Eldridge
    3. Dear Mark, Doreen and other Cherry researchers, Like you I have Cherry ancestors from the Oxon/Bucks/London and Yorkshire areas. My Cherry's stayed in and around Wheatfield/Adwell/South Weston Oxfordshire villages from around 1768 - 1860's. Strangely, I too have a Henry Cherry who married a Caroline and moved to Yorkshire but not the same one. Mine is Henry, born 1844 in Adwell. He married Caroline, who was born in Worminghall (very near to Ickford) and they moved to Bower Hill, Oxspring, Yorkshire. He worked in the local iron works. Living with them in 1881, is a Job Moor, also from Worminghall. Henry and Caroline had at least four children, George 1864, James, 1867 and Charles 1871 (all born in Ickford) then had Alice 1880 in Oxspring. In 1891, Henry and Caroline are no longe in Bower Hill, but their son George is then living there with his family, :- wife Lucy, children Arthur, Archibald, Victor and George. Henry was the son of Henry Cherry born 1812, Wheatfield who married Mary Hester in 1835 at St Giles, Oxford. They had six children:- Elisabeth 1836 Margaret Sophia 1840 Ellen 1838 (also moved to Yorkshire - Leeds, married William Evans - the mother Mary Hester lived with them) William Henry 1842 Henry 1844 Mary Hester 1847 I am descended from William Henry, who moved into London around 1860/70's. Firstly to Camberwell/Peckham and then into Acton/Brentford. I can trace this line back to a John Cherry who married Anne White in 1768 at South Weston, Oxon. As yet I cannot find his origins. If he appears on any of your listings I would love to know. I believe he may have come from the nearby county of Bucks as I have searched most of the local Oxon village records. Mark, is your James, son of Nathaniel and Mary Cherry in Ickford, baptised/born 14 Feb 1799? I have them on my listings as possible cousins to my John and his family. If any of this is of interest, please let me know. 3. Hi Doreen and listers, I have just got to my gene-mail so am a little behind. I would like to confirm the dates, as my CHERRY's also come from Oxford/Buckinghamshire. In particular the Chilworth/Albury/Ickford/ Worminghall/Gt. Milton area. And I have a Henry born 1838, but married to a Caroline Sherwood, with him moving to Penistone York's between 1871 and 1880. So I don't think it's the same one, however there may be a connection (cousins). My Henry's parents were James Cherry & Martha Tyrrell I would be interested if there is a connection, or if you have any information on this family.
