    3. According to "Pioneers of Old Frederick Co. VA. by Cecil O'Dell 1995 -Wallsworth Publishing Co, Marceline, MO., a Thomas CHERRY was in the Monocacy Hundred in 1733/34 in Maryland (noted inTracey and Dern's "Pioneers of Old Monocacy, pg. 368). Property is identified as - at mouth of Licking Creek and Potomac River. Thomas later (1737) purchased Potomac River front land in old Frederick Co. VA. at mouth of present day Cherry Run. He and his children added to these holdings later. Thomas CHERRY was reportedly a son of Edward and Alice CHERRY of County Antrim, Ireland who immigrated about 1737, preceding them to America, possibly in 1732/33. Does anyone's record collection show dates, ships or points of departure and landing in America for these people? Thank you for any help on this... 3. I have a great grandmother, Susannah CHERRY B. 1840 OH. (Guernsey Co.area) who had brother William CHERRY possibly b. 1828 Guernsey Co.OH. William returned from OH. to PA. and was living in household of uncle, Thomas Phillis as noted in 1850 Census at age 22. According to www.chartiers.com/beers-project/articles/cherry723.html, Eliza Jane CHERRY Bn. 1821, daughter of Edward Cherry & Rebecca PERRIN, married William Cherry of Guernsey         Co. OH. on Oct. 8,1850. In 1769, William was listed in Will of Thomas PHILLIS in 1869 as a legatee and living at that time in Chartiers twp, Washington Co.PA. The Beers-project history states that William and Eliza Jane moved in 1875 to near Waco, McLennan Co. Texas where they were residing at time of Beers writing in late 1800's. This William Cherry is a son of Thomas William CHERRY who married Elizabeth PHILLIS (sister of above Thomas Phillis) near 1817 in PA. Thomas was son of Moses CHERRY m. Jean ACHESON, and grandson of Thomas CHERRY JR. of old Frederick Co. VA. MD. and Mt Pleasant twp, Washington Co.PA. and Mary PERRIN of MD. Any information re/history of the Cherry descendants of this family in Texas would be appreciated, as well as any info on brothers and sisters of William Cherry. 1. [CHERRY-L] Looking for Cherry's
    2. Barry Faulkner
    3. Still looking for what happened to Thomas and Elizabeth Phillis Cherry of Washington Co.PA. prior to 1855 in Guernsey Co.OH., as well as son Joseph Cherry. Also seeking info on family of their son John Cherry who was in Iowa in 1860's-70's. Any information on another son, William Cherry b.1828 Washington Co. Pa. living in Chartiers twp in 1869 would be deeply appeciated. Recently discovered after receiving lookup info from different sources - Thomas Cherry Sr. of Old Frederick Co.VA. owned acreage on both banks (VA & MD) of Potomac Riiver at mouth of Cherry Crk, VA and Licking Crk, MD about 1734-1737. It was noted on a survey that Thomas Sr. was a pilot. His son Thomas Cherry Jr. married Mary Perrin, daughter of John Perrin of MD. about 1756-58, inherited from his father and sold property there and moved to Mt. Pleaseant twp in present day Washington Co. PA. via Washington Co. MD. and Old Redstone Settlement in PA. The PA property at time in 1774 was also claimed by VA. as part of Augusta Co. VA. 2. Jackie & Mary J. Marchant
    3. Ken and Cherry rootsweb members: I don't know how much genealogy you know, so if this is something you already know, then please ignore it. Many lecturers state that if you check the censuses for names and homes which are listed close by, many times it will be either families which are related, or which are neighbors. You might try checking the censuses for the particular year (s) you're researching. Sometimes this is an indication of relationships or neighbors. And many times families and whole sections of a parent state moved in mass with each other to protect against assault from Indians, animals, weather disasters, etc. This is certainly not a definite but only an indicator. Mary J. Marchant I'm interested in the Cherrys from NC. Saying they moved from Va to NC, maybe I've been checking the wrong state for a couple's marriage. Maybe it needs to be VA instead of NC. This is my husband's family.

    1. [CHERRY-L] Correction to Cherry genealogy
    2. Sally Wiebe
    3. A correction - already! It's been awhile folks, but I'll get with it eventually. First a name correction for the husband of Susan Cherry. His given name was Alvero not Alfonzo. Will add that Susan was born Oct.20,1842. I have a marriage certificate for them, August 28,1866,Council Bluffs,Iowa. Susan died in 1876 in Decatur Co. Iowa. I have good reason to believe that Susan was Cherokee and am trying to document that. Need all the help I can get!
