    3. This is a name given to Old Man Matoy in a deposition given by Arch McDaniels concerning Ruth Ellidge. Ruth Ellidge’s parents were Ruth Helton and James Matoy. Arch states that this is the name of Old Man Matoy. He also calls him Ooku le eu hu Now we know that Okuh Ulah in various spellings is the ‘title’ for leader or chief. Bearing this in mind.... Old Man Matoy was a resident of Tellico/Telliquah village the first principal village in the Overhills...before Chota or Tomotley. Chiefs of this village were Old Hop and Oconostota. We know Old Hops name was Kanagatoga [sic] so was Ooku le eu hu also Oconostota???? Or does it leave too many stones unturned? Joyce Gaston Reece
