Good Morning Terri Could you please tell me what document your John being the son of William David McDaniel? If you will check the archives for this list you will see a post from me concerning the wife of Wm David. It has been successfully documented that Nancy Bolin was the mother of Alexander McDaniel who most 'assume' is a son of Wm David....but it is not proven....therefore a brother to John. If your Charles Alford appears on a federal census then he may not appear on early Cherokee Census rolls. The Dawes, Miller, ECA applications are not, IMO a census roll. They are lists of those who applied for payments for various reasons.
