It's called the Dawes and Miller Indian rolls. They had to be on the rolls/registered by a certain date. You can still be registered as a Cherokee (Tahlequah, Okla) if you can prove your lineage to a Cherokee ancestor. (Solid proof, not what aunt Jane or Uncle Joe told you.) If you ancestors are not on these rolls, you are out of luck--------almost. --------Col.
