Terri, what I meant was that the land lottery took land away from the Cherokee and distributed it to whites living in Georgia. It seems unlikely that John McDaniel would have participated in the lottery if he considered himself to be a Cherokee. That doesn't mean he didn't have Cherokee ancestors, and he might have wanted land so he could stay in Georgia with a Cherokee wife. Some of my Parks ancestors stayed in Tennessee because the husband was white and took a land reservation and remained with his Cherokee wife. Kathie

With the Cherokee. Either Cherokee Nation or Cherokee Registry. If you want some answers , you need to go to the Cherokee , not government documentation.
