    3. Joyce Was her husband John Rogers, Capt.Chief b ca 1779 CNE d. 12 Jun 1846 Wash D.C.? If I have this right his father was an Englishman John James "Hell Fire Jack" Rogers, and his mother was Elizabeth "Oo ti ye" Emory" This is the woman that I have always had trouble sorting out husbands. As I recall Starr indicates she had four companions, don't know if they were all husbands. Robert "Tah-Lon-Tee-Skee" Due Who was 1/8 Cherokee married about 1765, two children, I think John James Rogers, Chief Captain, Englishman, m ca 1767, about 5 children Ezekial Buffington, Don't think they married, might have, I don't think they had children ? Jolly, m. ca 1775, and they had one child John "Oo-Loo-Te-Ka" Jolly, who I think was Tiana Rogers Uncle, who was Sam Houstons Cherokee Wife. 3. Elizabeth's husband was Ludovic Grant. Their dtr was Mary who m. William Emory Another dtr Catherine m. Robert Emory and we're not at all sure of the given names since they're English but everything points toward two dtrs and likely others. William Emory had Susannah, Mary, Elizabeth*, Will, Jr., Abraham & Drewy Elizabeth* is the one you ask about. She had a relationship with Robert Due/ Dewes/Dewitt of Dewe's Corner trading post in Old Ninety Six. Their child was Jennie Due. Elizabeth had a second relationship with John Rogers, SR. He was white with a son also named John Rogers. Jennie Due and John Roger's Jr also had a marital relationship. I hate to say marriage because that was a white man's custom that didn't always enter into the Cherokee culture. The Falling's/Fawling's; Fields; and several other surnames go back to this group. Robert Emory was likely the grandfather of the original Bushyhead. His dtr is said to be the wife of Capt. John Stuart of Fort Loudon (Monroe Co., TN), 1756-1760. He was later an Indian Agent in northwest Florida.
