I haven't heard of the "Cherokee" people never claiming to be Indian. They claim to be the First people I believe. And no, Cherokee was not their original name. I also have never heard of the CHerokee people going so far up the East coast........where do you get this information? I have heard they were a farming & hunting type people, but never heard of them being a nomad type tribe like the Plains Indians. Where is the info. on them being massacred or poisoned? How can they travel up the coast let alone overseas if they had nice homes? None of this makes any sense compared to what I've been told, read or heard over the last 15 yrs of searching on the net. Can you list your reference sources.......I'm curious Alli:) ----- Original Message ----- From: "BARBARA GORDON-LANTTO" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Cc: "earthfeather99" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, December 03, 2012 12:32 PM Subject: Re: [CherokeeGene] genealogy > North West Georgia was Cherokee Country. > > Actually the Cherokee were in Viginia, Maryland, Delaware, Washington > DC, North Carolina, South Carolina.
