I'm curious because they had no way of knowing which records at the time and it might help find other records. I requested my records be brought out of storage 3 times in 3 separate requests so I could get medical care, but was finally told about the fire and that mine must have been destroyed in the blaze.     3. Go through your local VA & American Legion if they are the ones that said it then go through the NARA.
