It was a part of Dan's report on what his DNA reported. See Archives. Question: In fifteen years who or what has Cherokeegene helped you with? According to "DAN" this kind of conversation is not allowed. AT least now Joyce has said she understands, "All Cherokee lead to MOYTOY". Read those archives Barb....I've always said that all Cherokee that we have records of lead to the Moytoy's. Please do not make incorrect implications. Those earliest records begin in 1540 with the Hernando De Soto exploration into Chiaha (Chota) and Canasauga (Conasauga village) right here in McMinn and Monroe Co. in southeast Tennessee. There is no record of the use of the name Moytoy until apx 1730....that I've seen, anyway. If someone else has any primary resource showing the earlier use of the name please advise. DNA is a very quickly progressing science. We will all have to learn to either ignore it and become ignorant or do our best to keep up with the science of it and what it means to our own personal genealogy. Years ago when Dan had his DNA done the scientific conclusions were not the same as they are now. Without SNP testing we have no way of knowing positively what the Haplogroup would be. I see the misunderstanding on the "Chinese" issue. The new DNA standards show Native Americans as Asian, ie they originated in Asia, but are not necessarily Chinese. There are many other groups on the Asian continent and islands: Mongols, Indians (from India), Japanese, etc. The Chinese are the more numerous, so we often think of Asians as Chinese. Susan
