Any one that makes a business such as the many forums out there free or other wise have a reason for such. It is not a big deal that they sell it, most of what is sold it to people who are looking for info. Sort of a give and take. We give, they take. But they give back - so much more that makes it a valuable resource. I just was connected with 5 family members of variety and I found my sister a new cousin today of her dad that died when she was a baby. I found my nephew missing 63 years, today also I found my deceased uncles niece, we had lost all family connections 30 years. So those finds to me are worth my membership, I pay world wide subscription, I have helped many people find relation behind the group. So in the genealogy since it was not free, but is was productive. Since this list is a genealogy list, people ask for help, many people behind the list start grinding gears and looking up people, if they find things out, they contact the asker. That’s what makes this list work. First we use a proper subject line, then we use a query, then we wait. Some genealogy chatter occurs. Just not chitter chatter and useless comments. This is a seek and find help list, not a put down list, people ask a decent question, we give a decent reply. That’s how its spose to work. I personally could care less what Ancestry does, as long as it works. It took a lot of programming to make it work. So, if you want to help, please stick to just the facts. Works for me and others don’t spend time reading and deleting useless messages. AHO?
