Hey all I have come across some information stating my great great grandmother Mary Matilda Lett's brother William Lett has a descendant that has served as a Cherokee Chief or assistant chief. I've seen it as both actually. The problem is I do not have a time frame or a location. Any advice on how to find this? I'm worried because there are some recognized national tribes, some state recognized but national and some that are not recognized at all (of which you all know).
