Looking for Downing and Vann's. Walsie >
Have a few Downings...Betsy, Jack, Jim, Martin, William, and Unknown. Also Vanns...Unknown, Andrew, Ave, David, J., Joseph and Margaret. Which ones are yours? They are too involved to transcribe so many. You may want to purchase the book for yourself. I got mine at the Cherokee Nation Gift Shop in Tahlequah but there are likely other places. My great great grandmother, said to be full blood cherokee but I've since decided she must not have been full..based on the ONLY person I can find that fits her at all...in any of the census records, was also from around the Bear Creek area in Tuscaloosa. I would be interested to just learn more about the area itself in terms of it possibly being an area for native american communities. Anyone know? Thanks Sharon P.S. my great great grandmother was a Lett and a newspaper article has her (if it is HER) marrying a Boover man in someone's home in Bear Creek.
