    3. Hi Alli, Just a quick note to let you know 18 years ago my three day old son was admitted to Childrens Hospital in Washington DC with "the highest bilirubin count they ever saw that didn't receive a transfusion." I had been breastfeeding and thought he was an easy baby because he slept so much, but turns out my breastmilk was contributing to his jaundice so he had lost weight. After 3 days under the lights (and an IV in his head, the poor little guy) he fully recovered. The docs said a side effect might be developmental problems because the bilirubin stains brain cells and creates a condition called Kinectaris (sp?). He had to get tested by specialists one time too at two weeks (they hooked him up with electrodes, put ear phones on him, flashed lights etc. while he slept). Just wanted to assure you he was always the top of his class and graduated with honors last year and now is heading off to college. Don't let the docs scare you too badly. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Having a baby is a beautiful adventure and I miss those days! Jerri __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 3. Thanks Jerri Congrat's on your son too. After going thru this w/my youngest son (now a 30+ pound 2 yr old) I don't let the Dr.'s scare me easily anymore (my son's dr. was horrible). I don't believe, think or feel that she had any brain damage from the Jaundice, I think its just in her digestion system. I think that her belly is "full" so its telling her brain that she doesn't need to wake up to eat. They are starting to address this issue now. The MRI came back good, but will be checked again by the specialist anyway. 3. Thank you Barbara She's definitely doing better daily. I'm actually doing pretty good about not being stressed (which is a rarity for me LOL) Yes, she's got a Neonatalogist/Neologist?? that's her pediatrician & that Dr. is consulting with some Specialized Dr. from another Hospital too. I think she'll be just fine. She's just been battling w/Jaundice since day one & it wasn't dealt w/first (which I should have tackled it myself as I knew better) & I think her appetite would have been fine. & she'd be a porker too :) She's working on it now :) Apparently they got some result's back on the 'brain' test's...the MRI came back w/no 'stains' or anything negative on it. But the Pediatrician is still going to have the Specialist dbl/triple check the result's. Don't know if anything was found on the EEG, but it appears (as of now) that there is no brain damage. ;) (Which I already knew) So now they are going to start on her digestion system (which is what I suggested in the beginning) But until the Specialist goes over the result's they aren't 'ruling out' brain damage. (even though she shows NO signs of it anyway) :) That's as of a few minutes ago LOL Alli > Alli, > I will put your family on my prayer list. Here is hoping that things get > better each day.
