Nancy: Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you, but my work (unfortunately) prevents me from spending very much time on genealogy. I found a ton of information a couple of years ago on the Young Family Genealogy Forum, but my emails to the poster of the information were not answered. The information is not indexed, and appears to have been posted by a Stewart Stanfield on August 17, 2000, although there is also a reference to Richard Lawson whose email address was _richlawgeneaolgy@hotmail.com_ (mailto:richlawgeneaolgy@hotmail.com) . There are several references to ties in to the Cherokee in this family line, but again, detailed source information is not included, on what I found. Maybe it has been updated by now, and I would encourage you to see if you can find this information on line. The information is that John Young, born in Ireland, married a woman, whose name is unknown, and had three (not two as I earlier stated) kids, a Mary, who married Thomas Kennedy (no known relationship to me, despite the fact that my maiden name is Kennedy, from the Kennedy line that descends from William Taptico, last Werorance {chief} of the Wiccocomico Powhatan tribe), Elizabeth who married a McDaniels, and John as to whom we have no information. John had a second marriage to a Ms. Adkins, who is noted as "prob. Cherokee Indian," which marriage apparently occurred in Maury Co., TN. Many of the descendants went to Alabama. This information states that Reese Porter Young was born in 1849, died in 1936, but does not have information on who he married. Reese's parents were William Carroll Young born 1822 in TN, died 1898 in Webster Co., Mo, and Sarah Jane Rhea born 1842 in TN, d/o Alexander Ray and Zilphy Garrett. Apparently Zilphy was born in 1822 in TN and died in 1909 in Webster Co., MO. John Young and Ms. Adkins are the parents of William Carroll Young and would be Reese's grandparents. I have appear to have left the rest of my Young information at my other office, but I recall my grandmother talking about her grandparents, Reese and Nancy Oney Haymes. My grandmother was named Ona, after Nancy, but she said Nancy did not like her, and the feeling was mutual. I have a picture of Nancy, and she doesn't look too friendly. Does your information show that Jane Love married Reese Young? I just want to make sure we are on the right track. If you can't find the Young info online, let me know, and I will go through the pages I have to see if I can find another Reese and the Love surname. Fawn Kennedy Dessy
