Osiyo Glee! Where are your ancestors from?. My Butler side is from Grainger Co, TN. and I cannot find anything on his parents nor siblings. We suspect that his dad was James M Butler and mother Unity Whitehead. Family passed down history say he was 1/4 to 1/2 and his wife Ellen Virginia Ro(w)land fullblood. They are not on any rolls that I have found. I know nothing about the Butler line that Martin Butler Strudivant has in his name. I suspect that he was just named after someone. I have not found any Butlers family in my line. His mother was Arah Beck Strudivant. She was a sister to my second great grand mother Mary Beck Hildebrand. They came from GA and TN. I was hoping that someone whould know something about where Martin got his name. But will probably never know.
