I have been attempting to research the ancestors of three siblings. They came from the Carolina area to Georgia in about 1800. They are THOMPSON HARRIS b. abt 1754, his younger brother, HAMPTON HARRIS, and their sister, FRANCIS HARRIS. I have read on the net that there are a large number of Harris' among the Cherokee. Does anyone out there have any information on this family? Any Harris family research in this area? Thompson Harris is my gg grandfather. Thank You in advance for any help. There are 34 Harris' in Keith Hampton's book. There is a Thomas Jackson Harris, but no Thomas Harris. You may want to check one of my favorite genealogy sites. I see there are many Harris'. Good luck! http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/h/i/c/James-R-Hicks-VA/BOOK-0001/bookindex.html General advice: Please check this very extensive site for your families. They are listed in alphabetical order. All you have to do is click on the appropriate report to view a lineage. Happy hunting! J.
