Ila, we compared notes awhile back and found a relation. Well guess what, the Union Co. SC Martins also tie in. in fact, most of Union Co. SC people are related in one way or another ! Ila, It has been awhile since I researched the HARRIS-JONES lines. Here is some info I had for another reseacher, dated 1993. When she gave me this I thought it tied into my lines. Richard HARRIS (I was told Richard was the father of Joseph HARRIS who md. Martha JONES) and therefore the info. below looked as if it might fit: Richard HARRIS born England had Thomas HARRIS md. Martha GARRETT (NOTE: I have a GARRETT line as well) Josephus HARRIS Richard HARRIS Jr. the above Thomas HARRIS had Eliz. HARRIS Jemima Ann HARRIS b 1782 Union Co. SC d 1863 Pike GA md. 1809 MOrgan, GA Levi MARTIN unk. HARRIS Father of Levi MARTIN was Elijah MARTIN md. Mary FUNDERBURK he also had Israel, Shadrach and Elijah and 8 daughters (I do not have the names) you will find records of these people in Union and Laurens Co. SC and Edgefield Co. SC another great source that I recommend over and over again for early MD/VA families is "Maryland and Viriginia Colonials: Genealogies of Some Colonial Families" by Sharon J. Doliante. Families include BACON, BEALL, BEASLEY, CHENEY, DUCKETT, DUNBAR, ELLYSON, ELMORE, GRAVESA, HEYDON (Haydon), HOWARD, JACOB, MORRIS, NUTHALL, ODELL, PEERCE, REEDER, RIDGLEY, PRATHER, SPRIGG, WESSON, WILLIAMS, and Collateral Kin Laurens Co. Library has a copy and will copy index for surnames and the pages if you request and agree to the charges. address is 1017 W Main St., Laurens SC 29360 I am not done going through my papers. I am sure the MARTINs are collateral lines in more ways than this. This is just the one I recall from the top of my head. An aside: I have a 2nd JONES line which is Margaret JONES b 17 Apr 1629 d 1713 md. Joseph WHITMORE. Their son John WHITMORE b 1720 md. Ailcy GARRETT Their dau. Lydia b 1772 md. Chana BRIGGS the son of Jessee BRIGGS and Nancy HARRIS whose mother was Martha JONES and her paternal grandma was reputed to be Jemima JONES. How all these JONES come together is not clear, but I am sure they will prove to be cousins, neices, or something that ties them together.
