There is a new book just released that would probably provide information on why some of our ancestors hid their ethnicity. Now, I think most of us know why; but, I often run across other people who don't understand the various whys. I haven't read this book --- it is just out and didn't even come up on a search via Amazon.com. The article is book review that is quite descriptive.
