Dan, Here's how the male baby gets its y chromosome. It takes 2 to tango. Women can only pass on x chromosomes but men can pass on x or y. If a child has 2 x chromosomes (1 from each parent) then it's a girl. If it's got 1 x and 1 y, then it's a boy; the y chromosome being contributed by the dad. I hope this helps. Sharon
