    3. Well, when I went to school we were required to not only take Texas History but American History as part of the graduation requirements. I loved it, some didn't. What is so bad is that some of the locals have written books or articles and obviously spoke to the wrong people. Living in the rural area we pretty much knew each other and our parents and grandparents and others talked about the area before we were born. One writer wrote about a ghost woman and child who had been seen on Jack Creek which I laughed at. Jack Creek is just behind me and believe me no one in this area has seen this. I had two uncles who drank too much (much to mom's distress) and men who took advantage of getting them drunk and writing checks on the bank accounts. Believe me, as often as they drove down that road to get their booze at all times of the day and night, they would have seen it and we would have heard about it. The bad part of my mom's family is because both sets of grandparents descended from NA bloodlines, they didn't handle liquor too well. When I found other members of my grandpa's uncle's family researchers, among the first thing they would comment on was this inability to drink. I tried to tell my kids not to drink too much as they could very well have even more of a problem as my dad's ancestors had NA connections too. You can't believe everything you hear, it has to be documented. -----Original Message----- From: Alli :) via Sent: Saturday, November 08, 2014 9:56 PM To: 'Edith Humble' ; cherokeegene@rootsweb.com fSubject: Re: [CherokeeGene] Lore, Pride and Documentation I think I’ve learned more genealogy & history doing genealogy then I ever was taught in school :0) My hubby & my dad worked with a guy of the last name Beaver can’t remember where his family is from From: Edith Humble [mailto:eadiene7374@gmail.com] Sent: Saturday, November 8, 2014 8:27 PM To: Alli :); cherokeegene@rootsweb.com Cc: Dan M Subject: Re: [CherokeeGene] Lore, Pride and Documentation My grandmother's great uncles married into a family named Buffalo.
