    3. Hello I’m replying to Joy who wrote “Message 2” about looking into projects. To answer your question, No, I haven’t looked into any projects and I know nothing about them. A newbie here, so thank you for the link. I will check it out and whatever is in the link. Thank you for your reply. I know for a fact. There redirect as well to a site they've set up. I seldom visit Facebook but the one time in ages I was hacked. He even moved a copy of the conversation I'd put in a Word program and I suspect some sort of notification .dll . Word wouldn't respond. He was a Democratic computer whizz who'd worked in Washington DC behind scenes. His words not mine. His expertize was verified by someone who knew him. Had read earlier that either they or Google was looking to buy. I've seen a real push on every page trying to get us to submit info to Facebook and other "social" pages. Facebook is not best place for genealogy. To much 'other' stuff going on there - in my case most friends, family, and acquaintences not interested much geneaolgy (maybe when they get older they will). > > I'm very disappointed in the direction ancestry.com appears to be going having always enjoyed them in the past - my peaceful haven & refuge away from the rest of the world & it's cares. It was a secure feeling like having a private 'club' seperated from the rest of the internet world, but now with all these "social" network links being added to every ancestry page & a push for us to be continually interact the outside world (these SOCIAL SITES) it makes me feel very unconfortable. > > We are a unique people (many older) in our love & deep interest in family who are no longer among the living. Many of our ancestors who have passed, we know little of if anything yet we will put many concentrated hours & much focus, deep study, and searching as we learn about them and build our trees. We need our own separate corner of the web like ancestry.com has always been in the past for these interests & pursuits rather than a social website like Facebook which is basically a free for all for the living & all about the LIVING where we research & study the DEAD ... big difference ... the workings of the two websites as 'one' do not co-mingle together well. On FaceBook too many distractions like pop up messages about other things etc. > > Yes, Facebook is nice in it's right place, like for me it's popping in to see what the kids & grand-kids are doing & seeing new pictures etc - love that. But we're kind of like a Professor with our deep family research & study, then to be thrown into Facebook would be like being thrown on to the basketball court. Kind of hard to explain but believe many of you know what I'm trying to say. > > > ~ Karen > > > > On Friday, June 6, 2014 9:32 AM, Joyce Gaston Reece <bjreece@bellsouth.net> wrote: > > >> >> >> The article Joy sent the link for tells what they are doing.
