Thanks so much, Kathie!! It's unlikely, but hoping you can find some information on Mary, who I believe to be my 4th great grandmother, a Cherokee woman from the Indian Territory in upstate SC. From what I've been able to piece together: born about 1760, Indian Territory now Pickens, Oconee or Pendleton Counties, SC married John BEALL or BELL (also listed as Jeane) son: John BELL b. 1789 Old Pendleton District, Pickens Co., SC John BEALL died in Wilkes County, GA ca. 1804 (will probated 5 Mar 1804) John BELL married Elizabeth ODELL and died in 24 March 1862 Cedartown, Polk County, GA Elizabeth born 1790 Old Pendleton to John Prather ODELL and Mary BOURLAND ODELL; died 1867 Forney, Cherokee County, AL. Her grandmother was Mary ADAIR of SC, and I've often wondered whether this Adair line fits into the others with Cherokee culture. all the best, Beth On Sun, May 10, 2015 at 3:00 AM, <cherokeegene-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Message: 1 > > > I just got a copy of this book which is a transcription of the Cherokee > Census of 1835. Interesting, I have some Odell and Prather. Wonder how those 2 names got together. Prather in Oregon were in the logging after the great migration.
