Not sure what happened in Tennessee, but as in many states there were only a few counties to begin with and then as the areas became settled they broke them up into smaller units. Georges Township is in Fayette County currently; I don't know if it was originally in a different county. Kathie Does anyone know if counties in PA changed like they did in Tn & NC? I need to find George Twp in Fayette County.
