    3. There are two Barkers in Hampton's book, both Willims, one b. 1810, the other 1850. There are many, many Millers and Harris', 14 Suttons, 6 Kelly's, no Merchants, no Ridenour's, no Ritenours and no Brandenburgs. First names, and dates might help. jay earl <ten8csi@yahoo.com> wrote:Osiyo Michael, I'm not familiar with any of the names you've listed. 3. Yeah my Phariss/Dyer was in Va. I believe. My Phariss line runs from Va. down to N.C. & to Mo., Ark & Okla. I have been side tracked from that line, so I guess I'd better get back to it :) Alli On 7/27/05, Serenity4us2@aol.com <Serenity4us2@aol.com> wrote: > > The DYER family was associated with our CAPP(S) in early Colonial > Virginia. > I have ran across it many times in my research. 3. I have been attempting to research the ancestors of three siblings. They came from the Carolina area to Georgia in about 1800. They are THOMPSON HARRIS b. abt 1754, his younger brother, HAMPTON HARRIS, and their sister, FRANCIS HARRIS. I have read on the net that there are a large number of Harris' among the Cherokee. Does anyone out there have any information on this family? Any Harris family research in this area? Thompson Harris is my gg grandfather. Thank You in advance for any help. 3. Osiyo All, Just to let you know, I will be making a whirlwind trip out to Oklahoma City and mostly to Tahlequah and Checotah the second week of August. I plan to visit cemetaries, do the heritage center, hit the archives and ofcourse, peek into their casino. ;) Anyway, I will post the exact cemetaries I am visiting before then. If you'd like, I can perhaps take some digital photographs of your ancestors headstones if they are at the same cemetaries and send them to you. Beforehand, I would appreciate it if you know their exact location to help speed things along. If any of you live in those areas, it would be great to meet for a few moments just to say hi. 3. Hi J. Thank you for doing the lookup! George 1787?-1851, is our George and Archibald M. 1815?-1871, and (another) William 1811-1897, should be his sons. I have 2 Thomas', is there anything else on him that might help me tell if the listed Thomas is ours? Again, thank you! Patty

    3. Thomas Jackson Harris, b. 29 July 1834 at the Cherokee Nation East, now Georgia, married Martha Bailey, daughter of Wm. Bailey and Elizabeth___. [He] died 9 Nov 1888 at Goose Neck Bend, Canadian District, Cherokee Nation IT, now, Muskogee Co., OK, at age 54, buried at HARRIS CEMETARY, Muskogee, OK. Martha Bailey is buried in Woodlawn Cemetary, Claremore. Hope this helps. The discovery of the cemetary may prove to be especially worthwhile. Have you ran their census' yet? 3. There are 34 Harris' in Keith Hampton's book. There is a Thomas Jackson Harris, but no Thomas Harris. You may want to check one of my favorite genealogy sites. I see there are many Harris'. Good luck! http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/h/i/c/James-R-Hicks-VA/BOOK-0001/bookindex.html General advice: Please check this very extensive site for your families. They are listed in alphabetical order. All you have to do is click on the appropriate report to view a lineage. Happy hunting! J. 2. The DYER family was associated with our CAPP(S) in early Colonial Virginia. I have ran across it many times in my research. You may wish to search early colonial records in VA- if you are checking on the DYER name. (The names PHARRISS & DYER surnames are also present/migrated into the county I live in- Cumberlands, NC.). Some DYERS migrated to NC & TN. This is not my line, but again, they seemed to be closely associated with our CAPPS. Good Luck! Nancy J. Capps
