    3. thanks, i didn't think they would be in the book, just thought maybe someone else had relatives living in or near Walker Co. that might know of them. according to Lincoln's death cert. both his parents were born in Alabama. Lincoln is buried at Old Bethel Cem. near Nauvoo Al. but there is no marker there now, although my cousin says there use to be but i can never remeber seeing a marker with his name on it. there are other members of his family buried there also. --- jay earl <ten8csi@yahoo.com> wrote: > There are 32 Martin's in Hampton's book, but none > with the first names you mentioned. > > elisa sanford <esanala@yahoo.com> wrote:Do any of > you know anything about any Martin's of > Walker Co. 3. Hey all I'm also interested in Martin's from around Perry County Alabama and/or Hale County Alabama. This is not my line, however, my line of Griffin's ( said to be cherokee and black dutch ) came out of Perry and Hale County. They were indeed "mulatto" on census records the time they lived in that area however, mulatto could mean most anything including African American. In a box recently opened by a distant cousin, (the box belonged to the wife of the grandson of the first labeled mulatto in the Griffin line), among many things, a picture was found labeled Martins. I'm also interested in any DOSS information out of Hale and Perry County Alabama too. Thanks Sharon

    3. Hey Jerri You're talking about family now! Alex and Arch Wilson are two brothers of my Great Great Grandfather, George Wilson, Jr's. I am looking for a wife for George Wilson, Jr. Do you have anyone in your data that could be his wife-maybe a Mulkey or Farmer? The Wilson School, mentioned below, has long been gone, not even a sign of it anymore. Do you or anyone on here, know if there would be records of these small family schools available. About a mile and a half directly south of the Wilson school is the homestead land of Mary Elizabeth McCreary. She was a school teacher, who went on from the Nation to Ohio for her teaching education. She also was Cherokee and the daughter of Nannie Hildebrand and Granddaughter of John Hildebrand SR and Susannah WomanCatcher, a Full Blood Cherokee. Mary E. married James DAniel (born 1838) in 1860-61, and they had 2 daughters. Their oldest was Martha J. Daniel. Gee---I wonder how they met??? Oh yeah, after Arch and Becky left the Wilson homestead, George Jr moved in and lived one ! His parents homestead at least through the Civil War. Martha and Lewis had only one child together, Tom's grandfather, James Daniel Wilson, born 1876. Both Lewis and Martha had other marriages and children and James Daniel Wilson ended up with 19 half brothers and sisters. Well anyway, thanks for your post, I've been off on another line and it was fun coming back to the Wilson's for awhile. Patty P.S. Also has anyone ever seen a map that shows where the Linder Bend District on the Illinois River is located? ****Bird Doublehead (the father mentioned in this Indian Pioneer Interview) was a full-blood Cherokee. Their family raised Leaty Mulkey, their neice, on the 1910 McIntosh County, Beck, Oklahoma census, next door to some of my Farmer relatives, William and May. Cherokee Blessings, Jerri ________________________________ From the Bird Doublehead Interview found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/pioneer/ohs/doubleheadbird.html I am a full-blood Western Cherokee Indian, could not talk the English language until I was fifteen years old. Arch Wilson and his wife, Beckie, and I moved from the Wilson farm down on the Illinois River in what is known as the Linder Bend District. (The Lewis ROGERS farm today was the Wilson farm.)
