    2. Jay, I must really be a burnt out light bulb! I found some Blockers in the mortality census. I really am not that good a manovering in those thing. I end up getting distracted. I went to the "Sandy Census" sight found the 1830 and I think a type of m# Then I went to a sight that you put in the year-and it brings up Blocker and a 1month baby that passed away. I did manage to find the Adams relations by "luck" and now it is confirmed that my grandfathers family has some type of bad lung heath history. Well, I feel like an idiot. www.wvi.com/~wb/Cherokee1.html this was one of the places I went. that is the place that you suggested? I do have a U.S. Census Bureau,Census Report 1880, D-34,Garland County, AR Baxter Twp. as a reference to the person or family of Hannah Davis --I am not sure to reference it- since I usually, try confirming the information, in the reference library. (I am new to this really-or I am really bad at it) this is a long process. I feel like I am drugging in the mud. I wish I could follow instructions better. thank you for all effort and time. sadly, I didn't find that info. Purplefroggigger@aol.com

    2. Susan Reynolds
    3. Greetings, again! I would urge all of you to check your local library to see if they offer you remote access at home to Heritage Quest through their server. My local library started doing this some time last year. It costs me nothing and is accessible 24/7 with my library card number. Many libraries nationwide are beginning to do this. It is a wonderful resource and will give you access to most of the US census, minus 1850 and 1880, and 1930 is not complete, I don't think. The drawback here is that the census is only indexed by head of household. You can get a little creative on the advanced search, though, and find most of your folks. It doesn't do wildcard searches so you have to sort of think outside the box sometimes. Heritage Quest also has begun posting up digital copies of Revolutionary and War of 1812 Pension Applications. It's well worth the time to check your library's web site. Have a good one, y'all! Susan

    1. Spring Place Book - Ward & Lowery Genealogy Chart Part 1
    2. Susan Reynolds
    3. I went back and looked at that message from 2003 and it is not the complete chart. I've split it into two parts to see if it will go through. here are the first 5 generations of the Lowery side. Here you go! I have left the author's information intact in the following abstract. If she left a first name blank, it has been noted as Unknown even if we know the name. I have also left blood degrees intact as they were printed. This research is not mine, merely an abstraction from the book, so I can't verify that it is absolutely accurate. However, one of the authors actually lived many of the events in the book and had access to all of her families' records so this should be a fairly accurate accounting. It is certainly a good springboard for further study. Abstracted from Springplace: Moravian Mission and the Ward Family of the Cherokee Nation. Muriel H. Wright and Clara A. Ward, Co-operative Publishing Co., Guthrie, OK, copyright 1940, pages 81-86 Genealogy of the Lowry Family of the Cherokee Nation: Oo-lu-tsa (She's come) a fullblood Cherokee woman was the mother of: Che-kaw-nah-ler (Forget me not) Nancy First Generation George Lowry, a Scotsman, married Nancy and they had the following children: 2-1 Captain John Lowry m. 3. The book is called "Springplace: Moravian Mission and the Ward Family of the Cherokee Nation" by Muriel H. Wright from the genealogical notes of Miss Clara A. Ward and others. Clara was the unmarried daughter of the Rev James Ward and Esther Hoyt. James was murdered during the Civil War and his wife left to make the trek on foot from their home to near Siloam springs, AR carrying twin babies in her arms, her three older children walking. Clara was three years old. Any of you that have access to Heritage Quest can download the book. If anyone else is interested, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you. I abstracted the genealogy chart from it and posted it on this list about three years ago. Blessings, all! Susan

    1. Re: [CherokeeGeneCommunity] McKendry WATKINS
    2. Jay, What a question. We spell it "Usually" Watkins. Even on our "Family page" There are a few of us on that site and mostly it is spelled like Watkins. However, if your speaking to us you might hear a "d" instead. But what is odd is The person "looking" at the monument spelled it with a "d" Wadkins. We are all speaking about the Same person. The photo of the tombstone is not clear--for me to read off of the computer. IF one of the members of the family doesn't reach me and explain the difference it --I plan to go to go to the Ark region anyway at the end of this week and I will confirm the difference with my closer family. And get a better photo-that I can read. A lot of the family I am "lucky" enough to still speak with are in the upper age brackets. I am sorry for not catching that mistake first. 3. It's not him, it's her. He was not listed (if memory serves me right). Maybe he had passed? Maybe she was in between spouses? The link is to the actual copy (is that an oxymoron? heee) of her census. She was the only Blocker in St. Giraudo (sp) at that time. Figured it was her. --- Purplefroggigger@aol.com wrote: > I haven't yet. But I am going to visit there in a > little bit. I am on my way > out the door. > Thank you for that site. 2. Thank you So much for sharing that information. I will check out the other sites as well. the question of spelling --On the tombstone of Sarah Wadkins one of her sons is spelled Moses and they also spelled her second marriage to Moses the same Way. I am not sure if continues the same spelling within our family. I will need to compare my notes. Purplefroggigger@aol.com
