I guess. The fence around the dogs was electric but has been off for years. Just wierd, from nowwhere it seems it came. I think mostly I was scared the propane tank would explode and kill my dogs. Nothing else close enough to me to get hurt. Thank you for writing back. Barb SC
This is a history of the state of Franklin which is very much included in the Cherokee research & history of the late 1700's. A must read...just for the educational purposes http://www.ls.net/~newriver/nc/wnc6.htm
Hi all, I am trying to find out about my grandfather and my grandmother's heritage. I was told that my grandfather Squire Chezem and my grandmother Ruby Bowser, both had cherokee in their lineage. I have also heard that we are related to Jesse Chisholm of the Chisholm trail ( forgive me, I may have spelled it wrong, there are many different spellings or versions) I do know from my readings that Jesse was Scotch and Cherokee descent but have no idea about my grandmother. Any sugestions where to start? Thanks Sandy Gesswein (Chezem) --------------------------------- Yahoo! Shopping Find Great Deals on Holiday Gifts at Yahoo! Shopping
Every one gets this when subscribing/ We are genealogists so we know how to file things. SO I advise every one who did not file it to do it now. Notice the part where is says (( do not post unsubscribe to the list, to write to CherokeeGene-admin@rootsweb.com)) - but not after you try to un sub first your self from the L or D modes.... even by using the posted website in the messages. ***************************************** PLEASE SAVE THESE you Will need them ! Print it out ! Welcome to the CherokeeGene mailing list! This list is for Genealogy ((ONLY)) and not for random and Idle comments and Chatter or you may be warned you will be unsubscribed = Please join CHEROKEE-L if you would like to join in on the CHEROKEE CULTURE . Some chatting is allowed there. SEE < http://www.angelfire.com/or/matney/CheroP.html > for more lists to visit and chat on. You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to CherokeeGene as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to CherokeeGene-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. DO NOT post (UNSUBSCRIBE) to the list mail If you have a problem write to CherokeeGene-admin@rootsweb.com for help. Also you can get off via web page http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Ethnic-Native/CherokeeGene.html 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to CherokeeGene-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to CherokeeGene-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to CherokeeGene-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to CherokeeGene-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both. For your verification, a transcript of the original subscription request is included below. --

Hi, Alli! I looked in my copy and that surname does not appear. Nor is it in Dawes Plus or Miller Plus (accepted or rejected) or as rejected Baker. I did a quick check on Ancestry and found the Loafman name is primarily associated with PA, VA, and KY from the 1820 census onward (mind you, the 1800 & 1810 in VA were both largely lost). There were also Loafman's in the NC (1800 and 1810 census - Caswell & Guilford Co.'s) and there are a number of Loafman marriages in Caswell Co. 1808-1812, in Granville Co. 1851. Let me know when you get the names and I'll check some of the other resources I have. Blessings! Susan
Thank you bunches Susan. I hadn't got to the Ancestry records yet. Since I didn't know 'who' I was looking for, I figured I'd wait LOL But I'll pass this on to him.
