I had sent a congratulatory message to you and urged you to complain about those "Night Nurses" as I am a healthcare employee also. I never did see that one show up. That was the only reason I thought I should unsubscribe. I enjoy the chatter and info from the room Kevin..

    3. Alli, I just found out my grandson came home from the hospital, two days later than I thought he was. he was jaudiced too. on top of that....sad news. I lost my new black/white foal. He got sick, the vet didn't come out, advised me by phone. She said he'd be fine, he started bleeding out, must have had a ruptured intestine. too late to save him by that time. Excuse me, but dam_ it. had she came out when I phoned she might have found something, or if she had just not been so confident and said so I could have called someone who would have come out. it's all a long story...longer than I'm giving. You know how my emotions are after losing my husband. This is hard too. Brings back alot of feelings. I know you lost your foal a few years back and understand. I'm scared now for my other pregnant mares. Fear that one will have a dead foal at birth. I know it's dumb, but that's my fear. 3. Thanks Debbie The prayers mean a lot to us & they are helping her out. All 3 boys have been heavy sleepers w/small appetite. Gif was the only one out of the 3 that had the biggest appetite & he ate so much that at around 4-6 mos. old I added formula to his feedings & then shortly there after I started adding food also. LOL Daniel (the youngest) also had Jaundice & was forced to eat a lot (often) He should have been admitted but wasn't he was allowed to be taken care of at home. I'm sure they would have thought he should have been brain damaged too. But he picks up things fairly quickly. The boys are STILL hard to wake up before their ready. If they are allowed to sleep.....they are fine when they wake up LOL She's the same way, the Pediatrician is just eroding on the side of caution, which is fine......can't afford a lot of that LOL, but I'd rather be safe than sorry :) Alli > Alli, > > sorry to hear about baby Jessica. > > my daughter had a little jaundice when she was born. 3. Thanks Virginia..... I was worried when she was initially admitted but since that first night she's just been making strides by leaps & bounds & I don't foresee her being there for much longer. My oldest son slept all the time too & had a huge appetite to go along w/that. My youngest who also had Jaundice was also a big eater after he got over the Jaundice & now he's a pudgy 30 + pound 2 yr old. I know she'll get out of the hospital before the following week is thru, especially if the nurses will help her to eat more often. The day nurses might, but the night ones that she has tonight & yesterday.........might not. Thank you for the Prayers they ARE appreciated & helping her out. Alli :) > Please keep us updated, Alli. 3. Yeah she's got some good Dr.'s. Her delivering Dr. which will be her regular dr. even comes up every so often to check on her too. Yep they do lights....if they allow the babies to go home that have Jaundice they have to be put on a paddle type thing that's called a Bili light & they lay on that 24-7. If they are in the hospital then they get that bili light & photo Therapy lights which those are like spot lights (say for a stage) & they are aimed at the top of the baby. Plus they get IV's yep they are a yellowish color including their eyes. Yeah sometime tomorrow I'll find out about the EEG & MRI results as that's when the Specialist is suppose to contact the Pediatrician then to go over them apparently the Radiologist that reviewed them found nothing wrong w/it. But the Pediatrician wants the specialist to review them too. She's back on some stuff called Raglan(sp) it is suppose to help w/Acid Reflux (which is why she was originally on it) & helps w/ "bowel" movements the "technical" name appears to be Metoclopramide which she just started back on tonight. She's up to 1 1/2 oz's of formula every 6 hrs but can have it every 3 hrs if she appears to be hungry. Which since she has the same nurses that she had last night.....its hard telling if they'll follow thru. The boys want her home, but they want me to stay home more LOL Yep, she'll will be up & moving before long & be kicking their butts LOL Well, I didn't do a great job at catching her starting to lose ground. But I knew her eating habits needed to improve. The Dr. would like her to get up to 2 1/2 oz every 3 hrs but would be good if she got up to 2 oz every 3 hrs.....which I think she'll get there. I sure in the heck hope so as our Insurance is going to have a tantrum with this visit. The nurses are getting use to my 30 million questions a day, only the old bitty she had last night & has tonight seems to not like them as much :) Oh well. LOL Alli :) > Alli, > It sounds like she is getting great care. I think she'll be just fine. She's just been battling w/Jaundice since day one & it wasn't dealt w/first (which I should have tackled it myself as I knew better) & I think her appetite would have been fine. & she'd be a porker too :) She's working on it now :) Apparently they got some result's back on the 'brain' test's...the MRI came back w/no 'stains' or anything negative on it. But the Pediatrician is still going to have the Specialist dbl/triple check the result's. Don't know if anything was found on the EEG, but it appears (as of now) that there is no brain damage. ;) (Which I already knew) So now they are going to start on her digestion system (which is what I suggested in the beginning) But until the Specialist goes over the result's they aren't 'ruling out' brain damage. (even though she shows NO signs of it anyway) :) That's as of a few minutes ago LOL Alli, It sounds like she is getting great care. It is wonderful the care they can give babies now compared to when mine were little. My boys were born with jaundice and back then about all they did was tell me to give them plenty of water. Now they do lights don't they? They looked like little yellow babies. LOL Glad to hear that the brain test came back negative. The EKG will be just fine. They get the digestive system checked out and she will take off and give the brothers run for the money. How are they taking all of this? I bet all they want is for Jessica to be home so they can spoil her. 3. Thanks Jerri Congrat's on your son too. After going thru this w/my youngest son (now a 30+ pound 2 yr old) I don't let the Dr.'s scare me easily anymore (my son's dr. was horrible). I don't believe, think or feel that she had any brain damage from the Jaundice, I think its just in her digestion system. I think that her belly is "full" so its telling her brain that she doesn't need to wake up to eat. They are starting to address this issue now. The MRI came back good, but will be checked again by the specialist anyway. 3. Alli, sorry to hear about baby Jessica. my daughter had a little jaundice when she was born. She also slept ALL the time, through the night and didn't wake to eat. First time I thought of crib death and was scared stiff. She has always been rather quiet and sleeps alot. now as an adult, she still likes to sleep, is still relatively quiet. BUT she is mentally gifted. Nothing wrong with her brain. I will pray that your baby girl is just the same and the doctors are worried for nothing. I could tell you another story about how my neice was supposedly brain damaged, they did all these tests and SHE WAS ABSOLUTLY FINE. hang in there girl. We are all praying for JEssica. 3. Please keep us updated, Alli. When the wee ones are so new they are so fragile and I know you must be worried. On the other side, my youngest daughter loved to sleep, awoke only long enough to be changed, eat and would go back to sleep. She was induced and 'they' decided she was making up for the time she would have liked to have stayed in the womb before she was forced out into this world! She probably slept 20 hours a day for the first 10 days, then all of a sudden she got hungry and started waking during the night. Once she discovered food, she ate herself through the store until she was a teenager! Never did gain much weight though. She is still fairly small. Will keep you both in my prayers.
