I also am faced with the spammers that all of you experience, and I have filters on my mail box to remove these as they come in. Those of you who are using Spam Cop, or any program of this type will be unsubed. I just don't have the time and am not willing to respond to these messages. You can set your filter to remove mailing lists from this process. I am list mom for around 40 mailing lists, and I receive 2-3 of these kinds of messages a day. The people who have auto reply will also be removed also, I don't care when you are out of the office. I am sorry if you think I am sounding mean, but joining a mailing list is your responsibility, it is up to you to subscribe, unsubscribe, and remove filters that stop the list mail from getting through to you. RootsWeb tells us that the mailing lists are virus free, and I have never received a virus from a mailing list.
