I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to go about checking for Indian blood in my family. On my birth certificate it states that my mother is part Cherokee. Checking the Census records on the family back through my great grandparents it states that they are white on all the census records that I have checked. The only thing that I seem to be able to come up with stating there is Indian heritage is my birth certificate. I am beginning to think the family tried to hide and went to great lengths to hide the fact they came from Cherokee heritage. I never knew my mother's mother but the few pictures I have seen of her she looks like she was part Indian. Growing up I was always told that there was Cherokee blood in the family but I sure had not been able to come up with anything to prove it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sue
