I have recently found my birth family and they have told me that I had a grandma who was part Cherokee and on another side have a great grandma who was also part cherokee. These ladies were from Duplin county NC and Onslow county NC. I have traced down my Shepard family heritae back to 1710 and all these Shepard's stayed in Duplin and Onslow county. I have yet to trace their wife's down. Here is a list of possible surnames I have aquired so far: Scurry, Sholar, Shepard, Ritter, King, Marshburn or possibly Mashburn, Carter, and Highsmith Is it possible someone of Cherokee heritage would have ended up living in the south eastern part of NC. I ws told my gr gr grandpa, my gr grandma and my grandma on one side all were very dark with black hair. I have dark brown hair that is very thick, straight and stubborn and my aunt says I favor my grandmas who had Cherokee in them. I was trying to connect the Shepards for my aunt said that was where the Cherokee was to come from. So far all I've traced back are registered as white and on none of the rolls. I know not everyone listed on the rolls, but I'm wondering does anyone have any Cherokee relatives that live in south eastern part of NC or have any relatives with the above surnames that could be in the south eastern part of NC? thanks for any information you may have Donna --------------------------------------------- This e-mail was sent using a CentralPets.com WebMail account Get yours at: http://mail.centralpets.com
