Ohhhh I am sorry...getting things confused here. Beatty DAY and Newton DAY were brothers both used the name Ledford until they reached adulthood and then Beaty and Newton used their mothers surname DAY when they were adults. Edmund was the son of Beaty DAY and Louisa HOWARD. BEATYS son married Newtons daughter. Whew!!!!!!!!! Sorry about that. Try finding these people when they used two different last names. Its crazy!! Nancy Day was supposedly Native American. However, she just dropped off the face of the earth. No death record...no nothing. Edmond DAY married Mourning/Mona/Mornia Napier. I haven't quite figured that out either. She is listed on different records using all three names. She is listed in the KY Death index as Mornia Unthank (can't swear that is her but I order the death certificate because family says she married an Unthank). She too was supposedly Native American also. However, at this point in time I find that hard to believe. Three brothers and one daughter of Robert Napier and Mourning Noe named their children Mourning. Ha ha the jokes on me. LOL Try sorting those out when they were born with a year or two of each other. I don't know what the significance of the name Mourning would be in this family. Edmund and his brother Newton used the Ledford surname until they became adults and then used their mothers surname. It is a mystery and no one seems to know why they did that. Also, one of Edmunds sons married Newtons daughter. First cousins...I don't get that either.
