    1. [CHEROKEE-SURNAMES] RE: Cherokee-Surname Mailing List
    2. Good Morning List Members, With the numbers of bounces I have been receiving lately I guess it is time to send out this reminder of how to subscribe and unsubscribe to this list along with a few suggestions on how to post you information to this list. When you subscribed you received an email explaining all that information, and I am sure just like me you filed it in the trash!! Not a big deal, and we all need help once in a while. To Unsubscribe CHEROKEE-SURNAMES-L-request@rootsweb.com (Un-Subscribe in the body of the message) CHEROKEE-SURNAMES-D-request@rootsweb.com (Un-Subscribe in the body of the message) I also noticed many of you have subscribed in List as well as Digest, and that is fine, but you are going to get the same message in both. The digest will just come all together. We do have a page for using the list located at http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/mail/cherokee.htm Lately when some of you have a posted I see messages that just say send me all the information on Jones (this could be any name) Surname, period, end of message. That is not the intent of the mailing list, I don't have that list of Surnames and most of you don't either. When writing to the list you should say which surname or names you are researching, when, where and why. The why is important also because you sometimes provide clues to other members of your family. This list has grown considerably since it was started and we now have just a little over 400 members. I have never done a roll call on the list, but....I know tell me I am crazy! We will do that using the following schedule. A-H Surnames -- Sept. 21 thru 23 I-P Surnames -- Sept. 24 thru 26 Q-Z Surnames -- Sept. 27 thru 29 No Surname -- Sept. 30 thru Oct 2 (No Surname, example John Little Bear) Surnames and only surnames should be in caps. (For the Newbie, Surname is the last name) Date of Birth and where Date of Death and where Date of Marriage and where Names of Parents, brothers and sisters Other Surnames associated with this family. Briefly tell us where you have searched (Census, birth, death and marriage certificates, wills, probate, and rolls) Messages written ALL IN CAPS ARE VERY HARD TO READ, some even say you are shouting, and maybe you are, you have reached the point of frustration and feel like you have hit that brick wall!! Good hunting and when you have some free time, please visit my home pages at http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native where you will find rolls, books, research guides, treaties, bios, genealogies, cemeteries and more. Judy List grandmother!!
