Try these: For instance using Jana Jordan Shaw "jana shaw" + texas "j shaw" + texas "j jordan s" + texas Be creative and try EVERY possibility you can think of: "j shaw" + genealogy "j shaw" + choctaw "j shaw" + sequoyah "j shaw" + sequoyah county "j shaw" + "sallisaw, oklahoma" "j shaw" + "indian territory" The possibilities are, of course, different in your cases, but these will give you some ideas. I knew my grandfather died in Arlington, Texas after some 30 years marriage to my grandmother, as Jess Willard Jordan. But, in looking on the ssi, I couldn't find him under Jess Willard, JW (which he often used also) or Jess. I finally had to wade through the 200 something J. Jordans and found him listed as unmarried J. Jordan! Now, if I can just get the $29 together to get that ssi app! I usually start with the most specific and work my way down to where I find the "right" amount of hits I want. And, using different search engines sometimes makes a difference. Overall, I like www.google.com best. But, it sure can't hurt to run it on any search engine you like, but I'd try google if you haven't already. And, try the different areas they have too. Now, I always have to play with this one to see which way is right, and it's different on different search engines, but you can also tell the engine to ignore certain words, like "j shaw" + genealogy -episcopal that might narrow your hits a little too. On ebay, I have to use -michael (I don't have any kin I know of named michael, but with michael Jordan there's thousands it saves me from having to wade through). "j shaw" + cherokee -religious You'll begin to see things you can "ignore" as you get hits. I just went to www.google.com and put in boolean and got a lot of hits with directions for these type of searches. Good searching!
