Hello! So happy to find this mailing list! Have enjoyed reading the posts that arrived today, especially the one written by Ramona. Sounds like we are all looking for the people we're connected to long ago. I would like to know more about my father's mother's mother, a Cherokee girl named Allie Price, who was only twelve years old when the white family she was living with gave her in marriage or traded her to a hunter/trapper named Elmer Elijah Tyre (also spelled Tyree) who was above thirty years of age. I just learned of Allie's name a few days ago! So happy to finally find her after hearing about her when I was a little girl. Just that my grandmother's mother was a Cherokee girl, no other information. I know the names of her children and several of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. But I would like to know more about Allie herself. Where was she born? What happened to her parents? What were their names? Why was Allie living with this white family, and why in the world did they give her or trade her to Elijah? When did Allie die, and why? I'm assuming her death was due to childbirth, as she was so young and had so many children in such a short period of time. Well, there's probably no way to find the answers to these questions, but it would certainly be interesting to know. Looking forward to getting to know all of you here in this mailing list!
