This morning I spent some time reading World War 1 Draft Registrations, just looking to see how many Native American Records I could come up with. I searched several states, GA, AR, AL, and Ok just to name a few. It will take a bit of work on your part but you just may be able to find some ancestors using the information listed below. Ancestry has opened up it's World War 1 Draft Registration records for visitors of Access Genealogy for free. This will cover a 14 day period between July 4 - July 17 2005. The only thing required to view the records is an email address and your name. No credit card required! This is not a 14 day trial of all of their material. It is strictly limited to their World War 1 Draft Registration images. http://www.accessgenealogy.com/ In 1917 and 1918, approximately 24 million men living in the United States completed a World War I draft registration card. These registration cards represent approximately 98% of the men under the age of 46. The total U.S. population in 1917-1918 was about 100 million individuals. In other words, close to 25% of the total population is represented in these records. The WWI draft registration cards database can be an extremely useful resource because it covers a significant portion of the U.S. male population in the early twentieth-century. If you had family in the United States during WWI, you are likely to find at least one relative's information within this large collection. In addition, these cards contain more than just names and dates; they contain significant genealogical information such as birthplace, citizenship status, and information on the individual's nearest relative. In general, the registration cards included the following information Full name Home address Date and place of birth Age, race, and country of citizenship Occupation and employer Physical description (hair and eye color, height, disabilities) Additional information such as address of nearest relative, dependent relatives, marital status, father's birthplace, or previous exemption from service Signature. http://www.accessgenealogy.com/ Direct url: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/military/ww1/draft.htm Please feel free to pass this information on to others!! Hello, In the graveyard known as the White Star cemetery theres some WOLFEs buried there. I don't know about the Indian portion of your message but I do have one picture that I took of a Wolfe tombstone in that graveyard because I didn't think the name was significant to my family lines. Here is the information on the tombstone in Harlan County KY Edward Lee Wolfe s/o Mr. and Mrs james Wolfe August 17, 1926 to Jan 5, 1927 I searched the Kentucky Death Index to try to see if this child was connected to my family in some way shape form or fashion. However, the KDI does not list a death cert for this child even though records were kept since 1911. This may not help you but if your Wolfes were in VA then take a look in Harlan county to see what you find on any Wolfes there. I have not yet done a search on the WOLFE surname. Hi, Hope someone out there may know something about some of these people. I am interested in finding out more information on the following: George Washington Wolfe he was married to Eliza Lurence She is dutch, he was full blooded indian cherokee if my information is correct. They had 12 children. This would of been in the earlier 1800's. Charles Brady Wolfe (son of the above couple) born around 1872 who married Cora Ettie Nunn, born 1878 she is also full blooded indian, they were married in 1894. I am not positive that the "e" has always existed on the end of Wolf but all the information I have collected from family members contains it so I am leaving it here for that reason and the fact I grew up using Wolfe as the correct spelling. Charles moved out of VIR sometime in the earlier 1900 leaving Cora, there she remained in the Rocky Gap area until her death. If anyone has any information on this family I would greatly appreciate it, and will share what I do have which is only a tiny bit. I am mostly looking for the siblings of George and rolls information but will welcome any information shared. Thank you and Many Blessings, TT aka JusticeTrailRdr@aol.com
Hey guys, Did I post what I found at the White Star Cemetery in Harlan County? I found my great grandmother and grandfathers graves! Her name was Lydia Belle Turner Williams 1876-1956. She is buried beside William Williams (her husband). I can't find a death certificate in the KDI but I know her first name now and her supposed birth year and death year. Lots of WILLIAMS graves there. I have pictures. I just haven't put the info together yet. Also, WOLFE and ALLEN, HOWARD, ISAACS surnames and I am not sure how they are related to this family but they must be. Stay Well Sherry

https://www5.nationalgeographic.com/genographic They don't give you any information other than what you/they already know. Basically, what they will tell you is that you came out of africa approximately 150,000 (mitochondrial Eve) years ago if you are female and 60,000 years ago if you are male. That is what I am saying. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Serenity4us2@aol.com> To: <CHEROKEE-SURNAMES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 16, 2005 7:50 AM Subject: Re: [CHEROKEE-SURNAMES] QUANAH PARKER- Son of Cynthia- FAMILY- DNA Results-PA... > > In a message dated 6/16/2005 3:15:34 AM Eastern Standard Time, > sheree606@alltel.net writes: > > If you have had DNA testing through family tree DNA and are asked to have > your DNA analyzed or added to the National Geographic Anthropological > Project I will tell you that it is not worth it.
