I googled it and found an Oconee County but no Oconee reservation. That's by no means a definitive answer, though. :^) Rhonda RootLooker@aol.com wrote: Abt. 1848 Res Oconee, , Anderson, South Carolina Can anyone help me determine if this means: Resident or Reservation? Hello, I'm new to this list. Family tradition says hubby's 2GrGrandmother was "full blood" Cherokee. Her maiden name was Kirts [various spellings include Curts/Kurtz/etc]. Her Mother's maiden name was Jeffries/Jeffrey's/variations. 2GrGrandmother was b. 1814/KY. Her Dad b. 1767/PA. Her Mom b. 1784/place unknown. A sibling of her Mother was b. Camden SC. The family lived in Cherokee Co SC for a time. I've checked Dawes Rolls/Millers List E & W & find nothing to make a connection. I did find the following & perhaps may help someone in their research: Jeffreys # 20683 Thomas J. b. TN Kurtz # 7227 Ada B. B. IN Jeffres # 18227 Stanley b. TN Marie

I am attempting to find data about the above individual. I believe he was listed on the Henderson 1835 enrollment, and was from Ducktown, Tennessee. He went to Florida to fight the Creek Indians with Andrew Jackson, and married and settled there. His Indian name was changed to Neeley or Neely. His first name given was Samuel or Zemuel. Any information anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I am very new at this, and just beginning my research, so please be patient with me. Thank you! Judith Neeley
Am doing some research for a relative of my sister-in-law who needs info on her DRUMMOND and WALKER lines. Thought someone on one of these lists may be able to help. Here's what she has: Louie Wigg DRUMMOND m. Bessie May (?). Bessie was born 22 Feb, 1907 in LA (Rayville or Sikes) & died 17 Jan, 1992. Louie's parents were T.J. DRUMMOND & Nancy WALKER. Nancy was possibly born in Mississippi. All are believed to be of Cherokee and/or Choctaw descent and may also have lived in OK and/or TX. TIA for any help anyone can provide. Jan in KY
Trying to find family roots. My father was from Claremore, OK. Ralph Malloy Shatto son of Walter Shatto and Cytha Bell. I assume his parents were also from Claremore but I am not sure.I don't know if my dad had more siblings as he passed away when I was 3. I found his parents names on his and my mothers Marriage Certificate. I can't seem to find any information on any indians with the name Shatto. It is very important for me to find my roots and search for relatives that are still alive. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. KMShatto1@aol.com Karen M. Shatto

Osiyo, I'm new to the list. All of the above are my Cherokee connected surnames. I saw the posting for STOREY. What is your STOREY ancestor's first name? I have Pheba Katherine STOREY b. 7 Mar 1830 TN d. Jackson Co., AL. m. John Ross REYNOLDS 2 DEC 1849. I have just begun my research on this line and have only secondary sources for my dates. However, family members have seen a picture of Katherine STOREY in a turkey bone breastplate. According to family history, she was Cherokee from Bedford CO., TN. She and her husband moved to Jackson Co.,AL where he ran a sawmill and owned about 80 acres of land on Sand Mountain. According to their grandson, C.G. REYNOLDS, they were both Cherokee and had relatives who lived in Cherokee, NC. Unfortunately, we don't know their names. Many of Katherine & J.R. REYNOLDS' children moved to Texas in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Their youngest son G.B. stayed behind in Jackson Co., AL until after their deaths. Hope that this rings a bell with somebody. Wado, Kaeli
