Most of this is because of the tendancy to lump people all in one catagory. Just because one Cherokee family or clan lives one way does not mean all do. I know a Cherokee man who will do housework or anything necessary to take of his family. Much like Dan, The well being of his family comes first and public image of him is not the important thing in his life. On the other hand I have known many who claim to be Chrerokee that put self pride and self esteme and what they want ahead of family and what is best for the tribe or clan. To me it would appear that Cherokee who actually is trying to live the Cherokee way would be focused on careing for family first. grandma
