The first time my son flew, we flew at night and we had to go through the middle of two storms. The lightening was crawling across the tops of the clouds and it looked like it was coming after the plane. It scared him so bad I could not keep him in the seat. He kept sliding down onto the floor so he did not have to see anything. I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Mother nature at her best. They are awesome, but if he hasn't flown the idea could be less than favorable. I have been afraid of lightening since I was a small child. I would probably have joined your son. That said, the storms I have watched out the windows of the planes are absolutely breath taking. Far more beautiful than the ones down here on the ground. They are amazing.
