I had heard this told ShadowBear but really realized it when we bought a pony that had his hoofs worked on or shoed for a while. Fortunately the farrier was able to file the hoof then shoe it and our beloved "Sunshine" was ok Ruth
We had rubber boots for the horses in Oregon during the wet weather so the mud would not ruin the hooves.
