    3. She probably does mean lavender. It grows to make a beautiful round, fragrant and left alone, fairly tall bush. Lilacs are trees. 3. They are a beautiful. Fairly easy to grow and draw lots of bees. Drying the flowers, you can use them with flax seed and other fragrant herbs to help you relax and sleep better at night. You can also but them in small mesh or toule bags and either place them in epson salts or just add to the bath water to help reduce sore or tired muscles. It not only smells good, but has healing qualities also. Around here the flowers are also steamed and added to ice cold lemonade for a nice summer drink. There are several places that actually have Lavender Festivals here in the NW. One place is Sequim (rhymes with 'swim'), Wa. over on the peninsula. You have to plan at least a year in advance if you want to go over there because all the facilities are booked for the whole event way in advance. The whole town smells like lavender. It is wonderful. There is also a bus tour of many of the lavender farms. 3. http://www.purplehazelavender.com/varieties.html Try this site. It doesn't give a real good picture of the size the plants can reach, but there are some pictures here. Two years ago, one of mine had reached a diameter of about 5' across and the flowers were spiking at about the same height. The plant itself was maybe 30 to 42" high. I cut it back in the early spring of last year (should have cut it back in the fall), this year it will probably be about half of the size it was when I cut it. They love direct sun and that was the biggest of my lavender plants. The others were smaller, not as much sun.
