The flu shot doesn't necessary if ever cover the strain of flu that actually goes around. They guess on which strain is going around & create the shot for it. That's why I think its a waste to get the shot, especially when most people end up sick after getting it. This email is to amplify the message from Alli and Shadowbear. I had to go to the hospital Tues.for a Breathing Functions test as a "before thing" before seeing my Pulmonary Doctor next week. The young man who administers these breathing tests told me that he had his "flu shot" and "still got the flu", and he thought at first it was just allergies (based on how it started with coughing and sneezing) so he did not see his doctor immediately. He said it hit him as hard as any flu he ever had ( I am guessing he is in his early 50's), and he was still coughing "up toe nails!" - a very deep raspy cough. ( I warned him to keep his distance from me!). While I was having my inhaler medication between "breath-ins and blow outs ", he walked out into the hall and had a "real good coughing spell to get some drainage up". Folks, I am hearing of more cases of flu here in the Ft. Worth area that is from people who did have the flu shots and my suggestion is to not go near where people are congregated!! unless it is a well ventilated room!! We know these mild weather days we are having thru out the southland isn't killing any of the germs, so take all precautions - you know what they are. Good heath to all. Bettye in Ft.
