Me too! I'm sorry, I just got to my email. I was hurt badly in an accident recently, and it's hard for me to sit long enough to get to my email that often. But I've read the great stories you folks have been posting, and this discussion on the quietness trait. I have such a problem with that. I am CONSTANTLY getting into trouble because quiet people seem to make people around my home town nervous. Everyone constantly assumes I am angry, or better yet, giving them a dirty look cause I have small eyes. It's true I don't smile much, but times have been hard, and I never mean anything personally against anyone, but I swear if I don't come on with a great big gaping smile, and keep yapping, people start coming up with all sorts of insane reasons for my quietness. Its almost gotten me fired from jobs before, it has gotten me suspended at work, and people have attacked me because of it. It's really frustrating that people would rather you talk alot of nonsense and lies, than be truthful and just not want to talk right now. ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Pestana, Sherry" <PestanS@sutterhealth.org> Reply-To: CHEROKEE-L@rootsweb.com To: CHEROKEE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [Cherokee Circle] Hiding Date: Thu, 2 Mar 2006 15:04:55 -0800 I am glad to know it is one of our traits and that I am not the only one. I have always wanted to be left alone, and growing up in West Texas on a government owned farm I was alone except for the animals and my family. I loved that part of my life. Living in 'society' is not a good thing. There are a couple that are out going. I keep to myself enjoy the quiet and the outdoors. I guess being a loner is really not good though. I can not stand a gossip was told not to do it. Got real strong likes and dislikes. Most sentences are short and straight to the point. If someone asked me what I think I tell them if they like it or not. Guess, it is an attitude not fitting in. However, have been told that we all will give the shirt off our back if someone asked for it or needed. Tammy I understand that I have that problem also im very quiet. im always staying to myself and always have. Kathy C. Subject: RE: [Cherokee Circle] Hiding Shadow, your comment about how we, (Cherokee people) are quiet, brought a question to mind. Has any one ever been accused of 'having an attitude' or 'not trying to fit in' because of this being quiet? I can not tell you how many people I have worked for that did not understand being quiet, staying to myself and just doing my work instead of being part of the office gossip group.
