    2. It still galls me that Americas first people are "carded" Ruth Not all of us. hehehe A bunch of us are just plain folks and don't want to be associated with the card. I know a lot of Cherokees and their decendants didn't qualify for the card because they refused to live on a reservation and lost themselves amoung other people in other places. They are still Cherokee no matter what people want to say. Grandma

    3. Well Sue, it was "hiding" out in the southwest ALL DAY. It is 6:04 p.m. CST and there is a good 5 minutes of "glow" on the sunset before the slight orange disappears. This is the southwest corner of Tarrant County and eastern edge of Parker County. 2. In a message dated 1/7/2006 3:00:07 PM Central Standard Time, wb@valiant.wvi.com writes: My folks did not talk about this much because there was to many others who were causing problems for those people who they knew how they were related back then. So that subject was dropped, my mom always said she did not want to talk about it . This is still true today. A lot of what people think they know about Cherokee people is not completely correct. Most of this is because of the tendancy to lump people all in one catagory. Just because one Cherokee family or clan lives one way does not mean all do. I know a Cherokee man who will do housework or anything necessary to take of his family. Much like Dan, The well being of his family comes first and public image of him is not the important thing in his life. On the other hand I have known many who claim to be Chrerokee that put self pride and self esteme and what they want ahead of family and what is best for the tribe or clan. To me it would appear that Cherokee who actually is trying to live the Cherokee way would be focused on careing for family first. grandma

    2. Cowinjun, I noticed in your signature you have Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama. Do you live in Alabama ? Can you tell me of North East Alabama. I need to get up there to do research. My folks on my mothers side had been in the DeKalb, Etowah, area far back that I can find 1850 this is far as I can get on with any certainty. Has this area a great history??? I have read things about that part of the country on the web sites, but to hear it from one living there and 1st hand knowledge of the history would be great. Barb sc

And hoping I do not offend. This is just a funny way of looking at the part indian part white questions always ask. While taking a shower the other day it struck me. from my toes to my knees are pretty white, from my knees to the top of my chest is tan, my neck face and arms are pretty brown always even in dead winter. So, what am I ? If we go by looks the following are possible answers. Well, three possibilities. A. I am Cherokee B. I am Colored C. I am a zebra. People take to much into "you look part indian" I have so often wondered about this statement. How can this be said??? Barb sc
