Hi Bettye, I know what you mean, I cannot eat liver either. When I was young my parents made me eat it and it smelled horrible and tasted horrible. I can eat one bite of it and that is it. And that is just because it is supposed to be good for you. I can count less than 10 times that I have made liver for my husband and we have been married for 28 years. He does cook though, so if he gets hungry for it - he just makes it himself. I really am not much of a meat eater anyway, I could easily become vegetarian. I hate to cook meat because I hate the feel of it. I like fish alot, but my husband doesn't. I could live on salad, fruit, fish, and potatoes. I love potatoes and french fries are my favorite. Hi Virginia, I think you may be right about this. It is OK to disagree but not to fight and stay mad. If we disagree and say something that the other person does not agree with or like than we can either say we are sorry or say I am sorry that you do not feel the same way that I do, but let us try to get along and still be friend's because we agree on so many other things but we do not agree on everything. We should never change the way we feel on a subject just to make friends or make someone happy, this is not right, we state how we feel and move on to something else. Maybe if someone states something that we do not agree on and it makes us mad - we should count to 10 and remember that everyone has the right to their own opinion and it does not have to match our own. Sometimes we get angry and lash out with our tongues and then are sorry later. Shadowbear, I remember a joke of many years ago about "time pieces" - clocks, watches, etc. Seems this man walked out of the jewelry store with a grandfather clock strapped on his back. He accidentally bumps into this man walking aimlessly down the street and says to him, "why don't you watch where you are going?" The man says "why don't you wear a wrist watch like every one else?" Do you like that liver smothered in onions also? My husband does too. He gets to eat it at a cafeteria sometimes as I can't (wont) cook it for him; anything else, but not liver. Some rain and hail here this week and the Sugarloaf fire is out but the lake is so dry...boat ramps twelve feet or higher in the air. If things don't give we will be drinking water from the nasty Arkansas. Tammy

Yes, I do. But only because my ex husband's mother was/is about the best cook in the world! She taught me to cook it her way, too. It's really tasty, tender and good. My mother also used to cook it. It was awful. You could have used it for a hockey puck! It was not only as hard as a brick, but was gross when you tried to eat it................it was served at least once a week. I am really surprised that my ex MIL was able to get me to even try it let alone love it. She cooked bacon first and then pulled the cooked bacon out and sautéed the onions in the bacon grease, (I also add a bit of garlic just for fun), then she would put the liver slices (usually beef) in seasoned flour and put in the bacon onion drippings. Cook on one side and then turn it over and cook until it was done, adding the crumbled bacon back in after she turned it. When it was nicely done, she took it out of the pan and made the best gravy to put over real mashed potatoes with home canned green beans or home frozen creamed corn. Makes me hungry just to think about it. My current man would absolutely have a stroke if I served it to him. He won't eat anything unless he knows exactly what it is and won't try anything if he 'thinks' (now there is an oxymoron) that there might be something in it he might not like. A perfect example of this.......I started making Irish Cream for gifts at Christmas for selected friends. He happened to see the chocolate sitting on the counter and would not even try it. He just KNEW it was going to taste like chocolate. The gifted all raved about it and finally, after one time too many of me telling people about why he wouldn't try it, he gave up and did. Now of course, I have to hide it or he will drink it before I get it all bottled! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bettye Woodhull" <betron1@sbcglobal.net> To: <CHEROKEE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 14, 2006 6:47 PM Subject: Re: [Cherokee Circle] Who Is Indian? > Do you like that liver smothered in onions also? Lake Washington has the benefit of the locks that connect it to Puget Sound, so, NO, it isn't rising. However to the east of us (and not that far away), Lake Sammamish is. A lot of houses and condos are being sandbagged to keep the rising waters out of the lower floors of some of the houses. And as I said to Dan earlier, a lot of the 'high ground' is sliding downward, taking trees and even homes with it. I was inside a building at a class when that happened. Must not have lasted too long, because when the class was over it was coming down in buckets, even had a bit of sow in it. Well, I guess this close to the record (the most recent one, not the one 40 day record) we should go ahead and shoot for it. (Like who is going to stop it anyway??????) Amazing the Queen Christine hasn't found a way to sue God. Yet????? Gotta go start dinner. Don't want to have to go back out 'there' tonight. A good fire and a nice pot of stew sounds really good right now.
