Shadowbear: Was that Coffeeville, Clarke County, Alabama? My dad's side of the family is Creek/Cherokee mostly Creek and settled there in the 1820's after being "invited" to leave Georgia. My 3g grandparents were then wiped out in the Creek War of 1836 in Clarke County, Alabama. They stayed however till about 1900 and moved to the Bayou country of Louisiana because or the prejudice. Nothing like swamps and skeeters to even things up. Right now it appears to be an over abundance of moisture....but before Summer even starts here, but just after things thaw (about Mother's Day) we'll be beyond dry. This is only maybe the second yr in the 5 we've been out here to see even 1/2 as much rain or snow. But if the snow isn't in the mountains where we need it for our irrigation season it won't matter what ended up in the ground. Right now my flowers look like they have drowned, I don't think I'll have any strawberries :( but that's ok....I'll start over LOL Alli :) > Alli, > I wish we had some of your moisture. My paternal 3 great grandparents helped to open Bibb County AL up for homesteading, although they lived there briefly ca 1821 before pioneering into Perry County AL and lastly in Marion County AL. It was heartbreaking to hear that church burning has happened in that area once again. Bettye in Ft. Game of Ball: Legends and Folklore of the Northern Lights - Inuit Most Inuit groups have a myth of the northern lights as the spirits of the dead playing ball with a walrus head or skull. The Inuits of Nunivak Island had the opposite idea, of walrus spirits playing with a human skull Folklore is from Legends of the Northern Lights, by Dorothy Jean Ray, The ALASKA SPORTSMAN, April 1958, reprinted in AURORA BOREALIS The Amazing Northern Lights, by S.I. Hello Cheyenne, Don't know how long you've been here as your name/addy doesn't look familiar to me (even though that means nothing LOL) We discuss the Cherokee People History, Heritage, culture, etc. we also chat. :) We basically chat while we wait for someone to come up w/a question or information that we can start discussing....... The Flu shots people are getting will not prevent you from getting the flu.....despite what Dr.'s say. some have a reaction to the shot & get the flu strain that they just took & other's end up catching the flu strain that's actually going around. So its never a guarantee. Hope your husband gets to feeling better & that you don't catch it. Alli :) > Hello...I was waiting on a topic I could respond to...is this a chat > forum? This email is to amplify the message from Alli and Shadowbear. I had to go to the hospital Tues.for a Breathing Functions test as a "before thing" before seeing my Pulmonary Doctor next week. The young man who administers these breathing tests told me that he had his "flu shot" and "still got the flu", and he thought at first it was just allergies (based on how it started with coughing and sneezing) so he did not see his doctor immediately. He said it hit him as hard as any flu he ever had ( I am guessing he is in his early 50's), and he was still coughing "up toe nails!" - a very deep raspy cough. ( I warned him to keep his distance from me!). While I was having my inhaler medication between "breath-ins and blow outs ", he walked out into the hall and had a "real good coughing spell to get some drainage up". Folks, I am hearing of more cases of flu here in the Ft. Worth area that is from people who did have the flu shots and my suggestion is to not go near where people are congregated!! unless it is a well ventilated room!! We know these mild weather days we are having thru out the southland isn't killing any of the germs, so take all precautions - you know what they are. Good heath to all. Bettye in Ft.
