    1. [CHAUDOIN] Leonard Hamilton
    2. Audrey Shields Hancock
    3. 1870 United States Federal Census Green County, Kentucky Greensburg Precinct 1 23 July 1870 #220-233 Hamilton, Leonard, 84, male, white, farmer, Personal Property $150, b VA Hamilton, Margaret, 55, female, white, keeping house, b KY Wells, Malissa, 17, female, white, b KY Shadowen, Eliza, 76, female, white, Real Estate $600, b VA (Ancestry.com: Image 33 of 38) This census alludes to the following: Leonard was born abt. 1886 in Virginia. [It appears that the abt. 1776 birthdate given by previous researchers is probably an error. The 1886 date is further validated by the marriage info of my previous posting. ASH] His wife was Margaret who was 29 years younger than he. [Now believed to have been a widow named Margaret (nee Chaudoin) Forbis when she married Leonard Hamilton, a widower previously married to Martha nee Chaudoin, apparently Martha's niece. ASH] Eliza Shadowen resided with the family. [Now believed to have been Elizabeth "Eliza" (nee Scott) Chaudoin, widow of John Isaac Chaudoin (aka John J. Chaudoin). ASH] However, it appears that Eliza was the one who owned the real estate and that she was perhaps the one with whom Leonard and Margaret resided. As the male in the house, he was listed merely as the head with only personal property, no real estate. And, was there a family connection with the Malissa Wells who was also living with them? Trying to validate the facts concerning Leonard Hamilton. Some say Leonard was born in Bedford Co., VA and others that he was born in Buckingham Co., VA, but I have no reference for either statement...except that he was born in Virginia. It is given by another researcher that Leonard lived in 1820 Pulaski Co., KY & by 1821 was in Green County, Kentucky, but no source of information concerning this was recorded. He is given by others as having been a farmer who died 15 Jul 1883 in Green Co., KY, and given as having been buried in the Hamilton Cemetery, but where is this cemetery located? I am trying to backtrack and try to find the original documentation, a source, etc. or from where a statement came to be...perhaps even family knowledge. So...if anyone can help further with these Chaudoins and their connections, it would be appreciated. Audrey
